This is an informal Sunday morning gathering designed for children, teens, and adults with special needs and their families. We welcome everyone, including folks with serious behavior or cognitive challenges. Everyone is welcome on Sunday mornings at Faith Lutheran Church in Stephenville across from McCoys on the corner of NW Loop and Frey St. come join this friendly, “no-strings-attached’ gathering. Dress is casual.

Special Joy is a ministry of Faith Lutheran Church. Special Joy Coordinator, Cathy Knoll, is a board-certified music therapist with 30 years of experience with children, teens, and adults with serious cognitive, physical, and behavioral disabilities.

JOY JAM

 

Come on the second Sunday of every month, from noon to 2 p.m. to join the fun of the JOY JAM, an informal theme based event for people with special needs and their families.

Enjoy good food, rowdy games, servant events, joy-full music, holiday celebrations, and an all-around good time. Take a break and celebrate life! Don’t forget to bring a friend or two.

From the Pastor

 

One day, Jesus rebuked his disciples because they wanted to keep little children from coming to him. Perhaps the disciples thought the youngsters would waste his time, or they didn’t know enough, or they had to wait until they were old enough to understand his teachings. But Jesus disagreed and welcomed the children. Faith does not depend on our knowledge, ability, or age. It is a precious and free gift from God.

Your youngster’s level of understanding or knowledge has no bearing on the ability to receive the love of God. God creates faith by the power of His Word. That is why we use the word of God at Special Joy and see many miracles of faith and growth. In keeping with the heart of Jesus we invite people of all ages and abilities to come to Him. We at Faith are glad that you are here to discover what the power and love of God can do in  your life and in your youngster’s life.
